Quick views offer a convenient way to access information from related records within Microsoft Dynamics, facilitating a more comprehensive view of data. For instance, you can effortlessly view account details while working on an opportunity or access product information when dealing with cases or work orders.
How to Add the Quick View Control in Power Apps
Integrating the quick view control into your Dynamics environment is a straightforward process. Begin by navigating to the Power Apps Maker Portal and accessing the main form where you intend to add the quick view for the related record. Ensure that sufficient space is allocated for the nested record to maintain clarity and organization.

Select the Components button from the ribbon, then under the Display section, you will find the Quick View control. Drag and place it onto the form.
When placing the control on the form, select the appropriate lookup column to reference the related record. If your field isn’t visible in the list, try removing the lookup from the form, selecting it in the Quick View settings, and add the lookup back to the form. Next, specify the quick view form to be displayed, an example could be the Account Summary Card form for account-related data.
Before publishing the form, verify the placement of the quick view control to ensure optimal positioning on the form layout. Once satisfied, save and publish the form to apply the changes. Now, when viewing an opportunity record in Dynamics, the account information will be seamlessly displayed within the quick view.
Enhancing Dynamics Forms with Quick View Control
It’s essential to note that while quick views provide valuable insights, they restrict the ability to edit related fields directly from the form. However, you can explore the Form Control to achieve both viewing and editing functionalities without navigating to the related record separately.
To create a new quick view form, navigate to the related table and select Forms. Choose New Quick View Form to customize the design according to your preferences and business requirements.
